Homemakers Community Recycling supports Monmouthshire residents to participate in various household recycling schemes including:
Bulk Collection Service (in partnership with Monmouthshire County Council)) - All furniture that is deemed not suitable for re-use is stripped for its components for recycling and therefore furniture does not have to have fire labels to be collected. Furniture is required to be left outside to be collected, to be covered over. This protects it from the rain and allows volunteers to handle it easily and allows for recycling or re-use. Furniture that is too wet may be refused on collection. Collection charges apply - £12 for up to 3 items, up to £51 for 8 items.
Drop Off Items - Household items (not including fridges, tvs or computers) can be dropped off at The Chapel, Old Workhouse, Union Road West, Abergavenny, NP7 7RL between the hours of 9am and 4pm Monday to Saturday. (Please ring in advance if bringing large quanity of items.)
House Clearances - full and part house clearances, simple bulk collection service for those people looking to reduce the cost of their clearance. Items from House Clearances will be recycled where possible.
Hardship Scheme - Helping people who have been left in a crisis situation or left homeless with no means to help furnish a home.
Education - Promoting waste reduction through reuse and recycling to Monmouthshire's general public.
On Site Showroom - Selling affordable furniture at reasonable rates.
Volunteering - Volunteers come from vulnerable backgrounds and learn new skills such as logisitics, administration and customer service.
