Acorn Project Logo

Monmouthshire Acorn Project is funded through a Welsh Government Initiative called Families First. The overall vision of the project is to work with the whole family to improve their life chances and ultimately reduce child poverty.

The project works with families with children primarily 0-11 in 4 target areas:
• North Abergavenny
• Overmonnow, Monmouth
• Thornwell, Chepstow
• West End, Caldicot

The project can also work with families outside of these areas who are in need of support. We have two teams, one in the North of the county and one in the South. Each team consists of:
• Family Support Advisor
• Adult Learning Advisor
• Health Nursery Nurses
• Crèche Workers
• Chatty Chimps (Speech and Language) Group Leader

In addition to these staff, we work in partnership with School Nurses, Health Visitors, Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, School Staff, Childcare Staff, Flying Start Staff, Genesis 2 Project Advisors, and other local Family Support Workers and services.

The project provides support in the following ways:

• Benefits Advice

• Return to Work Advice and Support
• Breastfeeding Support
