Monmouthshire Family Information Service (a part of Monmouthshire County Council) is a free, impartial service available to parents, carers, families and professionals throughout Monmouthshire. This includes the areas of Abergavenny. Caldicot, Chepstow, Monmouth, Raglan, Usk, Llandogo, Goytre and all the areas in between.
It is a Welsh Government Initiative which requires every Local Authority to have a Family Information Service. In May 2013, Monmouthshire Family Information Service received the Families First Quality Start Award meaning we now exceed the requirements of the Childcare Act 2006 and are able to provide information to families at a high standard.
Monmouthshire Family Information Service (previously called the Children's Information Service) started running in 2002. Initially the service provided basic information on local Childcare including day nurseries, playgroups, childminders, out of school care and parent and toddler groups. We now provide comprehensive information on all forms of childcare including opening hours, charges, inspection reports, security features, photographs and more. We also provide information on new categories including emergency childcare, dance classes, soft play centres, general activities, youth clubs and leisure centre activities. You can search for local childcare and activities by using our purple search facility on the right hand side of this site. Don't forget that you can click on any purple word you see - this will help you to jump around the site finding useful and often relevant information.
We only provide the basic details about each childcare provider in Monmouthshire. It is your responsbility to contact the childcare providers, ask the appropriate questions and visit if necessary in order to find out if the service or provider you are interested in will suit your needs.
